We are finally playing another show!

We are playing at the Arthouse for The Duvtons CD Launch featuring The Duvtons (duh), Damn the Empire (duh, again), Kill The Matador and Common Thread.

It’s a couple nights before the Bad Religion shows here in Melbourne so come along and get your punk on to get ready :)

So the album and all of its artwork is finished (finally), and we have sent it away for pressing. Release date is currently the 9th of October. Launch dates in a couple cities will follow.

I have created a little Facebook Damn the Empire page, if you are keen.

Damn the Empire

Debut album nearly finished!

August 1st, 2009

We have nearly finished our 16 track debut album. The mix is final and will be sent off soon for mastering. Hoping for a release around the end of September. It has heaps of songs on it that haven’t been played at shows yet and of course there will be teaser tracks available in the usual locations once it has been mastered.

Mini-tours to the fun capital cities will follow (you know who you are).   :)

Sadly, Damon will be leaving us for three months starting in November.. this will usher in a quiet-ish period (though we might have a temp replacement for that time, we won’t be actively looking for shows, I don’t think).

The moral of this is to come see us when we are in your town in September/October cause otherwise it might be a long time between drinks.

It’s been a while sine I updated this. Probably because no one really looks at it :)

We do have some news, however.

Damn the Empire are playing another show. This time at the Birmingham Hotel in Fitzroy on Saturday the 23rd of May. The full line up is in a tiny bit of flux, but also on the bill are Lostboyfound and Kill the Matador.

Also on the 23rd, we will be going into the studio again to record a bucketload of new material for an upcoming album. We will be laying down the music for 10 or so tracks with Bram laying down vocals sometime after that.

Hope to see everyone at the show (everyone not going to Have Heart, that is).

Live-0-RAMA!

March 31st, 2009

For a band that was supposedly going to have to lie low in April while their drummer’s other band (The Omen) toured their awesome new album… we sure are playing a lot of shows!

Wednesday April 1st – Vedette (Footscray) – 8:30pm

Easter Sunday April 11th – Public Bar (North Melbourne) – 9:00pm
(w/ Ammadu, Mindset and 5 O’Clock Charlie)

Saturday April 18th – Ruby’s Lounge (Belgrave) – 8:00pm
(w/ SIXLIP (NZ) & Blood Sport (SA))  — $15 (edit: Actually 18+ now, sorry kids)

Whew!!

Hope to see y’all at one of ‘em.

Our next show will be Thursdsy March 19 at the Espy front bar with Sydney’s Run! Hide! and Melbourne’s Gun Runners, Ammadu and Bradford Bats.

We are super excited to be playing with the mighty Gun Runners at last!

Add the fact that the show is free entry and I expect everyone to come along. No excuses. We are on first so being a school night won’t even cut it :)

We even have a new song so we might play for as long as 15 whole minutes! Brutal!

See you there.

Not much notice, the night before Propagandhi, and a buncha bands I’ve never heard of… but we are playing a show at the Curtain Hotel in Carlton (29 Lygon St) this friday in support of Breast Cancer. :)

Come along and see us and support a good cause.

Another show at last

December 19th, 2008

We are finally playing another show (our second, whoo hoo) on January 18th next year at The Tote. It’s a Sunday afternoon show going into the night. Doors are at 4pm, but we’ll be on at about 8pm-ish…

Also playing are:

Ammadu
Damn the Empire (us, duh!)
Charging North
Lamexcuse (ACT)
Stalking Blake

We have heaps of new material, so we promise our set will be longer than the blistering 11 minutes of our first show back in October ;)

The news may be slow, but we are working hard on getting together enough songs for a respectable set. At an average of a minute and a half each, that’s gonna take a few songs.

It’s going great though, they are coming together quickly and we are looking forward to letting them loose early in the new year!

Also planned for early next year, we are looking to record yet again. We already have six tracks recorded from the last session, and we are planning to record at least that many more and release *something* as soon as possible.

Keep your eyes/browsers here for more info.
